Broken Wings (Dark Legacy #1) by Jaymin Eve

44020179. sy475
Rating: Five stars
Genre: Romance, New Adult, Dark, Contemporary

Synopsis

They rule my new town, my school, and with more money than God, there’s very little out of their reach.
Four gorgeous, perfect, scary boys. There used to be five, but one of them died, leaving a fifth position that I now fill. I didn't ask for this. I didn't want to be part of this billionaire-boys-club.

But no one cares about what I want.
Sebastian Beckett is the worst of them. Their leader. He draws me in and strips me of every defence I have. He calls me Butterfly, but it's not a pet name, it's a threat. Beck wants nothing more than to break my wings, pin me to a board and watch me writhe.

He wants to see me broken.

Body, heart and soul. And what these elite want, they get.

Only they've never met Riley Jameson. Let the battle begin.

**This dark romance features four sexy, dangerous boys but is NOT a reverse harem.**

Review

Like many of Jaymin's books, they revolve around a harem of guys, except this series is one of those exceptions where there is still that one leading romance for the heroine. So this book....is very interesting....and very unique. Usually, I would never go for contemporary shit and I'm all for fantasy and paranormal... ..but this series.....is hella different. One: let's not forget, it's a dark contemporary. Two: Guys, its Jaymin Eve, it's bound to be awesome. Three: the plotline and story background are very unique, definitely not something you see in this world, so I guess it somewhat relates back to unrealistic fantasy. Anyway so, back to this awesome as fuck book.

The main idea about this book compared to other "rich academy with hot boys" novels is that the focus is less on the school part and more on the families and the like dark underworld of corporations and wealth.

Riley Jameson is the discarded daughter of a rich, powerful family who is one of five that form Delta, this ultra-powerful corporation with long-standing ties and traditions. And might I say, if you read this book, you will have the same thought as me when I say that Catherine Dubois (Riley's biological mother) is a huge fucking bitch. I'm not lying, there was a bunch of times I would have LOVED to just, if possible, transport myself to the world and just fucking bitch slap that self-centred, corrupt asshole.

Anyway, so each of the families has an heir as a requirement to have a say within Delta and have a say and Riley is now the replacement for her older brother, Oscar, who has been killed. It's necessary for Riley to be brought in as the replacement since her biological mom lost her uterus birthing Riley and is incapable of having more kids and to retain power there must be a blood heir. The heirs are tasked with fighting against competing corporations and whatnot with survivalist training and weapons and violence and Riley is brought into that fold and forms alike brotherhood bond with these four other heirs.

The romance is very interesting....god I'm using that word a lot, but like okay so, the guy Riley has the strongest connection to is Sebastion Roman Beckett, yeah I know, hot as fuck name. Anyway, so there's a lot of cussing and sex and violence and overall crassness. Riley and Sebastian were likeable characters in a romance based on more than sex, and the tone had strived more for "looks elegant but can kill" than just "everything is gritty and harsh and crass."

So Riley's personality is personally one of my favourite types. You know badass, a huge bitch, strong-willed, humourous, intelligent and a straightforward person. Like many of the characters in the book, Riley has no time for euphemisms and forms her words very dirtily without so much as a blush. That my friends, is confidence and bluntness like you will never see before. There are so many scenes in the book where Riley had verbally bitch-slapped the whores and assholes, that I just felt like putting it down, and just slowly clapping, except of course I couldn't because I wanted to read more.

Car racing, fighting, surviving, friendship, love, and loss ensue.
Loyalty and Trust are tested.
Who should she trust?
Why is Riley really here?
What are the intentions of the Delta elders and heirs?

All your questions will be answered when you click one of the links above, and you will be whisked away to a world of dark contemporary and the truest, baddest bitch, Riley fucking Jameson.
