Synopsis
Maddison James is about to discover some truths about the world.
Firstly … supernaturals exist.
WTF?
Secondly … she is one, even though no one seems to know exactly what kind. Double WTF.
Thirdly … she’s about to go back to school.
Well, things just got a little more interesting.
The Supernatural Academy is where shifters, vampires, magic users, and fey are educated. Where they are taught about their abilities, and how to function in the human world. Maddison already has the human part down, but this supernatural thing is an entirely new dangerous game.
Example one: mean girls who can actually turn you into a frog.
Example two: Asher Lock, a god at the Academy. Not literally … well, who knows for sure. He certainly acts the part, as do all of his minions who worship him.
Asher drives her crazy, because apparently snarly, gorgeous, and arrogant is her thing, and despite their mutual dislike, sparks fly between them. The more they’re thrown together, the more Asher is determined to figure out what’s been blocking her abilities.
Until the moment the truth is revealed, and they find out nothing in this supernatural world is what they thought.
Review
In Jaymin Eve's many series, this is one of my favourite. Generally the author would do series revolving around the reverse harem, and honestly, that shit ain't for me. This book isn't a reverse harem, but it does have a group of guys who have a strong connection to the heroine. And trust me, this heroine, Maddison James, is a true bad-ass, a bitch (in a great way), and that lovable snarky girl you will come to admire.
So, Maddison is plucked off the streets and carted off to Europe to the Supernatural Academy. Evidently, she's been putting off bursts of power of an unknown kind and they finally caught up to her. Luckily, the school is pretty cool and beats living on the streets. Maddison learns all about the supernatural races, including Atlanteans, represented by 5 hunky popular guys, but she is still unsure what type of supernatural she is. Asher is the leader of the Atlanteans and Maddison feels an instant connection to him. Could she be an Atlantean? As she tries to unlock her power, she attracts the attention of an outside group and must rely on Asher and his friends to keep her safe.
I thought including Atlanteans in the supernatural races was a fun twist on the usual suspects (witches, shapeshifters, and vampires). Maddison is in line with other FMCs that Jaymin Eve has written - she's likable and quirky, she doesn't take crap from anyone which often gets her in trouble, and she is extremely loyal once she makes a friend.
Maddison is a strong, sassy character that has had a hard upbringing and finds a home, love in friends, and some really hot guys who will protect always have her back. The storyline is fun, unique, and addicting. It’s almost impossible to stop reading once you have started. Excellent story and character building by author Jaymin Eve. I really looking forward to the year of “purple” (if you read the book, you know what I mean).
Planning on giving the book a try? Link is above to whisk you away to a world of fantasy like you've never seen before.
