Synopsis
I used to murder people for money, but these days it’s more of a survival technique.
Once an assassin, always an assassin. So much for being plain old Gin Blanco. With every lowlife in Ashland gunning for me, I don’t need another problem, but a new one has come to town.
Salina might seem like a sweet Southern belle, but she’s really a dangerous enemy whose water elemental magic can go head-to-head with my own Ice and Stone power. Salina also has an intimate history with my lover, Owen Grayson, and now that she’s back in town, she thinks he’s hers for the taking.
Salina’s playing a mysterious game that involves a shady local casino owner with a surprising connection to Owen. But they call me the Spider for a reason. I’m going to untangle her deadly scheme, even if it leaves my love affair hanging by a thread.
Review
So Gin has returned from her trip with her sister, Bria Coolidge. I really feel for Gin, really I do. She left Ashland in the last book to catch a break, and what do you know, she just had to kill kill kill. Not to mention the fact that Donovan fucking asshole Caine was also there. It was fun seeing him beg in the previous book to take him back. Ooops, if you haven't read the book yet, sorry that was a huge spoiler.
Anyway, so randomly out of nowhere, Philip Kincaid decides that Gin Blanco, the owner of the Porkpit, is going to cater to the event on his boat, the Delta. She goes.....and see's that it's actually a college party she's catering. So some shit happens and then she finds out that Philip just wanted her there just in case some shit like that happened and he wanted to protect Eva Grayson, Owen Grayson's little sister. Philip and Eva has this weirdass connection...that dates years ago. There are even subtle -not really- hints of them actually having.....*gasp* a relationship that is more than platonic *double gasp*. But like seriously what the fuck, Eva is still in college, and Philip must be in his early thirties. I didn't know we were planning on placing some kinky no no's in this book.
So, Gin also learns of this crazyass bitch that has been killing others. And guess what she does? Come out of retirement and kill this bitch, because well..that's the only solution. Apparently, psycho's just can never be reasoned within this book. So fast forward a couple of chapters, and Gin and Owen are on a date. Some woman, named Salina, comes up to the table, and Owen is like as stiff as fucking wooden board. Guess what? That whore is....Owen's fucking ex-fiance! Like bitch, what the fuck. Before you start fucking Gin, you probably should have mentioned that before. Of course, Salina came to Ashland the exact same time the murders started happened...how convenient. But really, that bitch isn't fooling anyone, everyone suspects it's her.
Okay so here's the really interesting part. Owen who apparently is supposed to be angry as a pepper because she just disappeared before some shit happened.......he's like...
"Salina was.. captivating. Beautiful, mysterious, charming, playful, whimsical, everything I thought I'd ever wanted in a woman."
Are you talking about that same bitch who tried killing others, as well as your sister? Oh, spoiler, Eva hates her before she tried drowning her as a kid, and for some fucking reason, Owen doesn't believe her.
"Phillip tried to rape and murder Salina."And Owen, where the fuck were you when this was happening? She just cried bloody rape and you just assume she's a helpless whore?
So, when shockingly -not- they find out Salina really is the killer, Gin is being the brilliant as fuck assassin, taking the adult step, even when that asshole Owen couldn't, she attempts to kill Salina. Salina being the fucking whore that she is, she uses her water abilities to drown Gin, and Gin would have died if not for Philip. So...what does Owen say? Let me tell you.
"Just let me talk to Salina,"
"My point was that Salina needs help,"
"She wasn't always the way.. she is now. I want to at least give her a chance to do the right thing."
Owen, sweetheart, I think you're the one who needs help. I'll gladly give it to you if you were real.
So at the end of the book, Salina dies by Gin's hands, and Owen is being all like, nooooo you said you would let me handle it. Gin don't do it! Gin, being the bigger person, killed Salina even if it hurt Owen. Btw, she told Finn to hold Owen while she goes kill Salina. Owen, who realizes the true intent of Gin's actions, is still like, I know why you did it bu- wait, time out, yeah we need a break. That was literally the fucking end. I love Gin so much, and you'd think that Donovan was enough of a pain, but noo he's not. Owen fucking Grayson is. So fuck him and his idiocy.
